Associate (Front Desk Staff)
Role Summary:
Associates are often new customers’ first contact with the climbing world, they are ambassadors for the gym, and for the sport of climbing as a whole. This should influence everything Associates do. At all times, our Associates must do their best to promote an enjoyable customer experience. They are responsible for checking customers in, describing the products and services available, and making sales. They are responsible for orienting customers to the facility and making sure that risks are being managed appropriately. They communicate and enforce Metrorock policies. They share and nurture enthusiasm for climbing. Code word: Izzy loves bacon.
Qualifications:
Effective communication with customers and coworkers
Ability to learn basic climbing knowledge
Ability to learn about Metrorock, and its policies, products and services
Friendliness and enthusiasm
Responsibilities:
Welcome all visitors to the gym and wish them a good day when they leave
Provide a positive experience to all visitors
Inform customers about Metrorock products and services, including gear and programs
Make sure that all visitors have a valid and current waiver on file signed by a parent or LEGAL guardian .
Ensure that all visitors to the facility are checked in before entering the climbing area.
Inform customers about Metrorock policies and enforce their adherence
Complete regular safety walks throughout the gym to ensure all gym policies and standards are being followed and address customers when there is a safety concern
Test customers for Auto Belay proficiency according to Metrorock standards
Test customers for Top Rope proficiency according to Metrorock Belay standards.
Address customer questions and concerns, both at the desk and over the phone
Elevate matters when appropriate
Process sales, sign up new members, and assist with booking basic events and youth programs
Facility cleaning and maintenance
Perform tasks thoroughly and efficiently and use downtime productively.
EVENING DESK STAFF must be able to teach Intro to Top Rope Climbing and Intro to Bouldering; training provided
Assist with events/programs as needed
